Report Data: National Report Card

The National Report Card depicts data on 15 key indicators related to the health of adults aged 65 years and older for the United States.

The United States has met FIVE of the 10 Healthy People 2010 targets ahead of schedule:

  • Oral health: complete tooth loss
  • People currently smoking
  • Mammograms within the past two years
  • Colorectal cancer screenings
  • Cholesterol checked within past five years

All data except for hip fracture hospitalizations were collected by CDC’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). Data for hip fracture hospitalizations came from CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics, National Hospital Discharge Survey. See Technical Information for a full description of these data sources.
   
Grade is based on attainment of Healthy People 2010 targets. See Healthy People Targets for a full description of Healthy People 2010.
   
§ These indicators are more recently developed measures and do not have Healthy People 2010 targets.
