Cape Blanco Lighthouse

Cape Blanco Lighthouse, first operational on December 20, 1870, is the southernmost lighthouse in Oregon and holds at least four Oregon records: oldest continuously operating light, most westerly, highest above the sea (245 feet), and Oregon's first woman lighthouse keeper.

Visitor hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (gates close and lock at 3:30). Guided tours through the lighthouse are offered April through October, Tuesday through Sunday. Tours are subject to cancellation due to weather.

Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area

If you plan on traveling the Oregon Coast through Reedsport on U.S. Highway 101 or are crossing the Coast Range to the Interstate 5 corridor on State Route 38, be sure to stop at the Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area. The BLM maintains a series of pastures next to the highway that are the year-round residence for a herd of 60 to 100 Roosevelt elk.

Vincent Creek

Vincent Creek offers a good base camp for hunting, camping, and picnicking. A large grassy field is available to camp or play in, which is unusual in this steep Coast Range. Mature conifers include redwood species planted many years ago. The old Vincent Creek Guard Station still stands for now. Plenty of shade and sun are available.
