Find Your File Number
You need your File Number to schedule a Registered Tax Return Preparer test. If you schedule your test using your online PTIN account, your File Number will automatically populate in the test scheduling system.
For all others, your File Number is available in the following three places:
- Initial PTIN registration welcome letter (Letter 4765 or 4766)
- PTIN renewal welcome letter (Letter 4763 or 4764)
- Online PTIN account (on your “Next Steps” page)
