First Lieutenant Maureen Bickett

Hi, I'm Maureen Bickett, I am a nurse, I am a student, I am a wife, and I am a mother. I graduated ROTC with a bachelors in nursing in 1996. I was always someone who liked a challenge.
Had I just had a college education I would not be the person I am today. I think that I was given traits and leadership abilities and skills that I wouldn't have had if I just graduated with a regular nursing degree.
I think my whole life I felt obligated to fulfill duties, I had a duty in college and completed my ROTC program. I felt that it was my duty to support Soldiers as an Army nurse. Now I feel it is my duty to take care of my family, I think my kids need me at this time.
I think there will be a time when I pick up and continue with my education with psychology when I feel that my kids are stable, established, they are doing great in school that's when I can pick up and do the things that I know I can do.
It's hard to achieve anything without accountability in life in general. You can't do the things you want to do in life without having some sort of self discipline without having some sort of accountability.
If somebody can help you along to achieve your goals then you can do anything. ROTC takes you to places you thought you would never go.
