Lightning Developer Challenge: Build an App for the White House

We had the honor of hosting Aneesh Chopra today, the CTO of the United States, as he
announced the White House’s latest initiatives around accelerating under-privileged youth in technology.

Chopra spoke of a soon-to-be-released youth job database focused on technology opportunities. The database will be built off the existing JobPosting schema developed for Veterans job database.

It wouldn’t be an event at Twilio if things didn’t get stirred up! Our CEO Jeff Lawson asked Chopra if we could propose a developer challenge for the Veterans App Showcase tomorrow, and Chopra accepted.

The Challenge

Using government database National Resource Directory, build a Twilio app by 8:00am PT tomorrow morning. Tomorrow at 1:00pm PT in San Francisco, Aneesh Chopra and Dr. Jill Biden will be at the Joining Forces Veterans App Showcase hosted by Code For America to recognize top apps built for our nation’s Veterans. On top of this honor, if you are available to attend the event and pass a Secret Service screening, Chopra promises you’ll be able to meet Dr. Biden.

Find the National Resource Directory API here.

Not only can you grab the recognition from the White House, you will be building an app that supports opportunities for our nation’s Veterans.

Just to be clear, how much effort are Twilio developers putting into this contest?
