Halocarbons
and the Stratospheric
Ozone Layer
Tracer Bullet 89-10 |
|
This guide lists information sources which deal with the deleterious
effect of halocarbons (fluorocarbons, chlorocarbons, and chlorofluorocarbons
(CFCs)) on the stratospheric ozone layer which shields the earth
and its inhabitants from excessive ultraviolet radiation from
the sun. Chlorofluorocarbons are compounds, similar to hydrocarbons,
in which most, or all, of the hydrogen atoms have been replaced
by various combinations of fluorine and chlorine atoms. Not intended
to be a comprehensive bibliography, this guide is designed--as
the name of the series implies--to put the reader "on target."
