Database Title: ProQuest Legislative Insight
Coverage: 1929 to present
Description: ProQuest® Legislative Insight is a Federal legislative history service that makes available thoroughly researched compilations of digital full text publications created by Congress during the process leading up to the enactment of U.S. Public Laws.

ProQuest® legislative histories are comprised of fully searchable PDFs of full-text publications generated in the course of congressional lawmaking. These include the full text of the Public Law itself, all versions of related bills, law-specific Congressional Record excerpts, committee hearings, reports, and prints. Also included are Presidential signing statements, CRS reports, and miscellaneous congressional publications that provide background material to aid in the understanding of issues related to the making of the law.

The initial offering of ProQuest® Legislative Insight makes available more than 18,000 histories covering laws from 1929 to the present. After the initial offering, a prospective service will be offered that includes all new laws, as well as additional laws from the past made available on an ongoing basis. The initial offering will include updated versions of all histories currently available through ProQuest® ® Congressional, and will approximately double in size the number of histories. All histories are compiled and indexed individually by skilled researchers following a research standard that goes back to the date of last enactment. Users will be able to access the full-text documents from the history compilation page or from individual metadata records.
