Tenant Commands

Commander Task Force 76/Expeditionary Strike Group-7
Primary advisor on amphibious matters and conducts numerous joint exercises in support of U.S. Commander in Chief, Pacific's Cooperative Engagement Strategy and works closely with III Marine Expeditionary Force.

Naval Mobile Construction Battalion
Provides forward-deployed engineering expertise, exercise related construction, humanitarian civic action, disaster relief and the ability to respond to a major crisis and limited regional contingencies.

Patrol and Reconnaissance Force Seventh Fleet Detachment Kadena
Provides operational support for SEVENTH Fleet maritime patrol, reconnaissance and surface and under surface warfare missions.

Naval Communication Detachment Okinawa
Operates out of two locations on Okinawa. One portion of the detachment is located on Kadena Air Base and the other is located at the Awase Radio Transmitter Facility. NAVCOMDET provides communication support for the Seventh Fleet and its supporting units: U.S. Naval Forces Japan, U.S. Naval Forces Korea, Defense Force. Naval Radio Transmitter Facility Awase, located on the eastern side of Okinawa, provides High Frequency (HF) transmitter support to Seventh Fleet and area commanders and Low Frequency (LF) transmitter support for COMSUBGRU submarines.

Military Sealift Command
Military Sealift Command Office, Okinawa, located at Naha Military Port, provides support services to MSC ships in the Okinawa operational area, ensures timely mission accomplishment and provides assistance to all DOD components on Okinawa regarding sealift matters. Demonstrating joint operations at the port: The Army owns the facility, the Marines use it to off load their equipment and the Navy manages the port operations.

Navy Munitions Command
The Navy Munitions Command provides ordnance management for waterfront operations, operates ordnance loading and transhipment facilities, ensures explosive policies are adhered to and coordinates resource requirements in support of Fleet units/operational forces within the Pacific Fleet Area of Operations. Utilizing the combined talents of Naval personnel, Marines, USCS employees and Japanese Master Labor Contractors, daily interaction helps to directly support the war-fighting capabilities of all US and allied nations' military services forward deployed. 

Fleet and Industrial Supply Center
FISC provides Provision/Ship Store and Fleet Freight support for 75 ships per year. FISC also supports the rotational patrol plane squadrons, provides contracting services, and runs two post offices.

Navy Air Pacific Repair Activity
Supports over 80 Navy and Marine aircraft on MCAS Futenma and Kadena AB. Services all forward-deployed Navy and Marine aircraft from Japan to Australia to the Persian Gulf.
