Welcome to the Department of Human Resources
auxline

The Department of Human Resources is responsible for increasing pride and esprit de corps among the membership as well as membership growth and retention. The Department publishes the Interchange newsletter and is also responsible for the Help Wanted section of the National Web Page. Additional duties include Development, Diversity, Recruiting, Resources, Retention and Uniforms as well as increasing Diversity in the Auxiliary. Without question, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is an organization that needs to be strong and robust in order to fulfill its core missions in support of the Coast Guard and the safety of the boating public. As with any volunteer organization, there is competition for our members. The Department of Human Resources has the responsibility to enact initiatives to help the Auxiliary continue to be strong into the future by attracting and keeping its most valuable resource our members.

Human Resources must be looked upon as a multi-limbed tree which originates from the same root. The initial obligation of HR is to ensure continued growth of Auxiliary units by way of recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. In accomplishing the goal of this limb or tree branch, it is necessary to intertwine with another branch, said branch being diversity . By diversity, we endeavor to recruit across a vast spectrum of characteristics: age, gender, race and at the same time be sensitive to the issues which these characteristics raise. As HR officers operating on various levels, it is necessary for us to stand ready to assist local units in these areas, and at times to interface with both unit leaders and other departments such as PA, PE ,VE and MT in order to market Auxiliary membership.
