Helping where we are needed

Habitat for Humanity

Employees and retirees are passionate about volunteering.

You'll find Sandians judging science fairs, coaching sports teams, leading scouting troops, sorting food, building houses, and serving on community boards.

In support of individual volunteer efforts, Sandia provides a volunteer website to advertise current volunteer opportunities and requests for employees to serve on nonprofit board of directors. We actively connect our employees to opportunities to serve as judges, tutors, mentors, and classroom presenters. About 300 employees receive the President's Volunteer Service Award for serving more than 100 volunteer hours in a year.

Sandia also provides opportunities for our employees to volunteer on corporate-sponsored projects. Each October, more than 200 employees join with the community to complete projects at local nonprofit organizations as part of Make a Difference Day. Working with a team of dedicated retirees, Sandia is proud to have completed 11 Habitat for Humanity Homes for deserving families over the past 10 years. And a special group of Sandians are dedicated to Project Linus, making hundreds of blankets for children and young adults who are experiencing trauma.
