Carter Praises Passage of House Energy Bill
04/21/05Washington, Apr 21, 2005 -
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative John R. Carter (TX-31) praised the House of Representatives for passing H.R. 6, the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Carter made the following statement after the bill passed by a vote of 249-183:
“The House has taken the first step in giving this nation a comprehensive energy bill that will ensure a more affordable energy plan and secure America’s future prosperity and national security.
“Our outdated energy policy has had a crippling effect on this nation.
“This legislation will decrease America’s dependency on foreign oil, update the nation’s power infrastructure, improve our nation’s conservation and efficiency standards, promote clean technologies and incentive for renewable energies, and increase domestic oil and gas exploration.”
