Miami Electronic Crimes Task Force
The Miami Electronic Crimes Task Force (MECTF) investigates cyber crime, computer crimes, network intrusions, online enticements, hacking cases, web site defacements and identity theft relative to the security of financial and personal information.
The MECTF investigates counterfeit corporate checks, bank fraud, embezzlements, credit card fraud and identity theft. All of these crimes may involve the use of computers. The task force also works to inform and educate private citizens and local businesses in the areas of cybersafety and security.
It is the goal of the MECTF to work with its partners throughout the South Florida area to investigate these crimes in a cohesive fashion.
Members of the MECTF include the federal and local law enforcement community, as well as financial institutions, academia and members of the private sector involved in computer security.
