Active Guard Reserve AGR Compassionate Reassignment
Compassionate reattachments are governed by "Army Regulation 140-30, Active Duty in Support of the United States Army Reserve and Active Guard Reserve Management Program", 1 Sep 94.
All requests for Compassionate reattachments must meet criteria outlined in paragraph 4-2k (a) through (f). Follow the instructions carefully, and submit all documentation required, including specific items of information regarding medical and/or legal statements. Problems medical in nature must include a signed statement from the attending physician giving the specific medical diagnosis and prognosis of the illness. The Soldier will also include a signed statement acknowledging that if the request is approved for reattachment in an excess status, the period will not exceed 1 year and that the Soldier will remain available for worldwide reattachment to an authorized position vacancy at the end of the 1-year period.
The request is routed through the Soldier’s Chain of Command and only the General Court-Martial Convening Authority (GCMCA) can return the request if they believe the documentation is insufficient. Upon receipt of all documentation, HRC Special Actions Branch provides an administrative review. If you have not met all of the administrative requirements of the regulation, additional information is requested. If all requirements are met and documentation is complete, your request continues through the Compassionate Review Board process.
