  11. Today West Point honors former Missouri Representative Ike Skelton who served in Congress for 34 years. Congratulations and thank you for your service!
  12. Another unique opportunity! West Point has a very robust study abroad program. Brig. General Trainor, Dean of the Academic Board and Col. Rick McPeak, head of the Department of Foreign Languages recently visited Russia and visited with four cadets currently studying there. Although the clip is in Russian, it is interesting to see the cadets interacting with their counterparts.
  13. Sharing photos from the WPPA Tailgate following the win over Boston College! A little bit of home transported to West Point for the WI cadets!

  17. Don't forget to stop by Taylor Hall for a cup of coffee on your way to the Cadet Review tomorrow - coffee will be available beginning at 7:45 a.m. The Parent Coffee Hour is sponsored by the West Point Parents Club of North Carolina this week! Thank you for your support!
Also - there are two BIG tailgates this weekend - the WPPCs of North TX and Houston are in town to host the T3 (Texas Tamale Tailgate) and the WPPC of North Carolina will host their annual tailgate as well. These events give the cadets an opportunity to get a "taste" of home and to spend time with family.
Thank you to all of our Parent Clubs for the support you give to the parents, cadets and the Academy. It is greatly appreciated!
  18. Patch of the Week - From the Army Game notes -
The Black Knights will be wearing the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 1st Armored Division when it takes on Kent State. Headquartered in Fort Bliss, TX, the 1st AD was activated at Fort Knox, ...
Ky., on July 15, 1940. It was the first American armored division in U.S. history to see combat. The 1st AD was dubbed “Old Ironsides” in 1941 after the famous U.S.S. Constitution. Maj. Gen. Bruce R. Magruder, the division’s first commander, likened the early development of the tank to the spirit of daring and durability demonstrated by the Navy’s “Old Ironsides” and decided the 1st AD should also have that moniker.

  19. Following the Cadet Reviews, weather permitting, the West Point Parachute team normally demonstrates their amazing skill, landing on the Plain. Last weekend due to unanticipated wind gusts as they exited the aircraft, 4 members landed safely on the east side of the Hudson River. Their "experience" was captured in a story in the Putnam County News and Recorder.
  20. Last night the cadets had a nice opportunity to provide support for the local NY sports scene - a great night for the cadets and a great night for the Yankees!
Seventy-five Cadets unfurled a ceremonial American flag Oct. 10, at Yankee Stadium during the pregame events for Game 3 of the American League Division Series between the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles. Other West Point elements in attendance were a five-person Cadet Color Guard and a soloist from the West Point Band, who sang “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch.
