PRESS RELEASE: Garner and Marion Third Annual Military Blood Drive (October 2012)
On Nov. 13, 2012, the Elkin, N.C., community will stand up to support the military by donating blood to the Armed Services Blood Program. The blood drive, which be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the National Guard Armory Winston Salem, is honoring Capt. Mark Garner and Pvt. Adam Marion, two members of the Elkin community who gave all for their country. For the past three years, the community has been sponsoring the drive in November, this year it will be held on Veterans Day weekend which makes the drive even more special.

PRESS RELEASE: Software Engineering Center to Sponsor Blood Drive (October 2012)
On Nov. 15, 2012, the Software Engineering Center will sponsor a blood drive with the Armed Services Blood Program. The Fort Bragg Blood Donor Center will be at Fire Station 2, Avenue B, Fort Lee, Va., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All blood types are welcome, although types AB and O are in the most demand.

PRESS RELEASE: Flu Shot? No Problem! (September 2012)
Flu season is here; and one of the most common questions at the Fort Bragg Blood Donor Center this time of year is: I just got my flu shot, am I still eligible to donate blood? Yes! So long as donors have been feeling well prior to their donation, there is no deferral for a flu shot. In fact, if you were so inclined, you could get your flu shot and donate blood in the same day!

The Fort Bragg Blood Donor Center is sending out a special call for donors in October. Normally, the blood donor center mobile team is able to travel up and down the east coast to collect blood from various locations. However, in October, all blood donations must come directly from Fort Bragg.

Asheboro's Hometown Hero (September 2012)
The Fort Bragg Blood Donor Center traveled to Asheboro, N.C., a small town in comparison to the hearts of those who live there. During a blood drive sponsored by the county government, nearly 100 people came out to support the Armed Services Blood Program and the drive collected 62 units of blood!

59th Ordnance Soldiers Donate (May 2012)
Recently, the 832nd Ordnance Battalion took the lead on a blood drive sponsored by the 59th Ordnance Brigade at Fort Lee, Va. Every nine weeks the command supports the ASBP by lining up their soldiers to donate blood. Their most recent blood drive produced nearly 100 units, and since one donation can save up to three lives—that's a lot of lives saved!

Not Your Typical Donation (February 2012)
Recently, the XVIII Airborne Corps German Army Liaison Staff made over 200 donations to the Fort Bragg Blood Donor Center, but it wasn't blood. Because most of the command staff is ineligible to donate, they had to come up with another way of supporting the ASBP. So for the last three years, the team has been donating sport drinks instead.

PRESS RELEASE: 82nd Airborne Division Rolls up Their Sleeves (October 2011)
FORT BRAGG, N.C.-The 82nd Airborne Division will sponsor a blood drive with the Armed Services Blood Program on Nov. 16, 2011, at the Ritz-Epps Fitness Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. One blood donation takes only about 45 minutes and can save up to three lives. PRESS RELEASE: Elkin Community to Honor Fallen Heroes with Blood Drive (October 2011)
On Nov. 12, 2011, the Fort Bragg Blood Donor Center will be in Elkin, N.C., to collect blood for ill or injured service members, veterans and their families worldwide. . The blood drive will be held in memory of Capt. Mark Garner and Pfc. Adam Marion who were both killed in the line of duty in Baghdad. Gardner was the commander of Company B, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, stationed in Hohenfels, Germany. Marion was serving with the North Carolina Army National Guard, 171st Engineer Company.

Womack Army Medical Center Command Sgt. Maj. Jeffery Miller decided to lead by example when he rolled up his sleeve to donate platelets. 440th Airlift Wing Gives "Second Chance at Life" to Heroes Abroad (March 2010)
It was early in the morning when the hospital received word four injured Marines had arrived from a remote combat outpost. Battered by an improvised explosive device explosion, their injuries were severe. Within an hour, the blood laboratory's supply was exhausted.

Fort Bragg Steps Up Big Time at Fort Eustis (January 2009)
To get 500 donors per day, even over a 12 hour day, you need to have a steady stream of approximately 50 donors per hour. This would be remarkable by itself, but to repeat this pace each day for five consecutive days - now that is exceptional.
