YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea -- U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan's Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) instilled feelings of nostalgia in Soldiers by throwing a Crazy '80s Night at the Main Post Club, July 28.

Food, drinks, and '80s music set the mood for lively conversations, dance, and fun to take place. In addition, dancing and costume contests were held to make the all-night party a little more special.

Sgt. Michael Huebner, BOSS president from Marine Forces Korea, was excited to see people enjoying the party that he had organized.

"Hopefully, everyone is going to have a great time," Huebner said. "This is a great party to show the best costume of the '80s that participants have and bring back a lot of memories for many people that are coming here tonight."

BOSS helps commanders to address the well-being and morale issues of the single and unaccompanied Soldiers in their units. It is one of more than 200 Army Morale, Welfare, and Recreation programs provided by the U.S. Army Community and Family Support Center, a headquarters Department of the Army agency. With the Crazy 80's Night, BOSS hoped to provide an exciting opportunity for single and unaccompanied Soldiers to have fun and remember the '80s.

Huebner emphasized the importance of the events and programs that BOSS provided to the Soldiers and Community in Korea. But the only way that BOSS could better help the Community was if members of the Community participated in its various programs.

"Right now we are trying to turn the BOSS programs around because people are not really well informed with the programs we organize but I think we are definitely moving towards a better direction," Huebner said."These kinds of events are very important to the Service members. Not only does it raise morale, but also it keeps them out of trouble. It keeps them from drinking too much or causing incidents and it also reduces sexual assaults."

BOSS has provided countless opportunities to have fun through past events and will continue to do so. The next event will be a Han River Cruise held in September, which will be a Korea-wide BOSS event. Additionally, on the first week of October, BOSS is kicking off the BOSS Bucket List at Nami Island.
