3/28/2011 - 24 March 2011 -- The USAF Band of Liberty brought home two awards from the 55th Annual Air Force Media Contest. The work "Gardens of Stone" by James Beckel took home first prize for Outstanding Recording of a Single Work and James M Stephenson's "Symphony No. 1" received first prize for Outstanding Recording of an Original Work.
Both works are from the Concert Band's most recent CD, "The Spirit of Ellis Island" which features four newly commissioned concert band pieces and a piece written originally for the Air Force Band of Flight.
