FORSCOM/USARC joint headquarters gets finishing touches

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (July 29, 2011) " Some finishing touches were taken care of today in the pre-function area of the U.S. Army Forces Command and U.S. Army Reserve Command's new combined headquarters complex in preparation for the dedication of the building and uncasing of their command colors here during a 9 a.m., Monday, Aug. 1, ceremony.
In particular, the display featuring General of the Army George C. Marshall, Army chief of staff, 1939-1945, was made ready for the ceremony. The new headquarters has been named in honor of Gen. Marshall.
Fort Bragg's new Marshall Hall is a state-of-the-art 631,000 square-foot facility designed to provide command and control for the Army of the future.
“Naming the new joint headquarters Marshall Hall exemplifies the Army’s leadership heritage and modern mission providing victorious land forces and Soldiers who are disciplined, properly trained, equipped and well-led,” said Lt. Gen. Howard B. Bromberg, the acting commanding general of FORSCOM.
FORSCOM is the Army's largest command and the generating force provider for combatant commanders worldwide. USARC is the nation's premier provider of Citizen-Soldiers for planned and emerging missions at home and abroad.
Both units moved to Fort Bragg to comply with the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure legislation. BRAC directed their relocation here and the closure of their former home at Fort McPherson, Ga., not later than Sept. 15, 2011.
