PVT Thixton talks about the unique opportunities, training and equipment available in the Army.

My name is Private Brian Thixton, and I'm 19 Delta (19D) Cavalry Scout for the United States Army. I joined the Army because the military is a theme in my family. My grandfather was in the Navy and then my other grandfather was in the Army as an infantry man in Korea, and I just wanted something more with my life, so I thought I'd join the Army since it has a lot bigger opportunities than my hometown had to offer me.
When I started out I wanted to do military intelligence, because I always wanted to be in the FBI, secret agent, stuff like that. I already got my secret clearance. In the 19 Delta, you go on special missions that you can't really talk about sometimes. And for the FBI to know that you've been doing that, that you can keep a secret, and especially with the military background, they know that you know your business.
There's been so many interesting things since the day I joined the Army. I mean, we have the Mark 19 grenade launcher, machine gun that I gun for on my truck. I get to shoot it all the time, and it's got grenades, so you blow stuff up.
What more could you ask for, for interesting? Not everyone gets to do that, and I get paid to do it. That's the coolest thing in the world.
