Bernie McGrenahan's intimate story of alcohol abuse, denial, suicide and eventual acceptance of responsibility for his actions brought countless laughs, "uh-huhs" and rounds of applause. Billed as one of today's top stand-up comedians, McGrenahan opened his "Happy Hour" comedy tour with, "How many of you men and women have to be here?" Applause resonated throughout the theater. "A mandatory comedy show -- that makes me feel good." The first 30 minutes, comprised purely of entertainment, allowed audience members a chance to unwind and relax.

    Fort Huachuca, AZ. - It was a clear morning on Fort Huachuca as Harold DeClay, the great, great, great, great grandson of Sgt. William Alchesay stood before the dedication plaque in front of Alchesay Hall on Sept. 14. He was joined by his brother Harrisen DeClay, his grandmother Nettie DeClay and his grandfather Hansen DeClay, Sr. One of the most famous of Apache Scouts and Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Willam Alchesay was posthumously inducted in to the Military Intelligence Hall of Fame the same day. The large, historic barracks building was named in his honor, and the family got to see it during their visit here.

    On Sept. 2, 1950, Pvt. Richard Clapp and C Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment came under fire near Yulchon, South Korea. Clapp was killed in action. The Army was unable to identify his remains at the time, and he was buried as "Unknown" in a military cemetery on the Korean Peninsula; later moved to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 2011, because of advances in technology, his remains were exhumed and identified by the Joint Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Accounting Command (JPAC). For Sgt. 1st Class James Shockley, maintenance supervisor with 602nd Forward Support Company, it would be his first opportunity to serve as a casualty assistance officer and serve Clapp's next of kin.

    CAMP BUEHRING, KUWAIT -- With a grain of inspiration and their own grit, South Carolina Army National Guard Soldiers have created a sanctuary from the blowing desert sand here. In fact, it was dust and sand that spurred the 4th Battalion, 118th Infantry Regiment Soldiers to turn an empty tent into a spacious dayroom for the unit, complete with amenities like televisions, tables, chairs, sofas, games, books, a grill, a refrigerator and a freezer.

Cambridge American Cemetery is the location of the remains of 3,812 Soldiers, airmen, and sailors that were killed in Europe during World War II. It was a long process to ensure that each service member was properly accounted for and family members notified, and finally approved and properly laid to rest here.

    During 2012, the medically non-deployable population at Fort Campbell, Ky., has increased to approximately 20 percent of the Division's overall assigned strength, according to medical profile data reported by Blanchfield Army Community Hospital and the Integrated Disability Evaluation System. To enhance the readiness posture of the brigades, all units must continue to reduce the medically non-deployable population by half, no later than the end of 2013. In an effort to streamline the process and make as many Soldiers as battle-ready as possible, unit commanders will assist with reviews and revisions of policies, processes and training requirements that have caused the medical non-deployable rate to rise.

    Around 8:30 a.m. on April 9, 2012, Sgt. Michael Wazelle of Carson City Army Career Center headed over the mountain pass of Highway 50 en route to Sacramento Recruiting Battalion. His plan was to take a nice leisurely drive over the pass and seek some first-aid for his computer since his laptop was in bad condition. As it would turn out, Wazelle would end up stopping to render first aid at the site of a truck crash before he could get help for his computer.
