U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan to Join Congressman Steny Hoyer and Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown in Hosting Town Hall Honoring Teachers and Calling on Local Students to Pursue Teaching Careers
U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will participate in a TEACH Town Hall at Bowie State University in Bowie, Md., at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 17. Duncan will be joined by Congressman Steny Hoyer, D-Md., Maryland Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown, Bowie State President Dr. Mickey Burnim, other local leaders, educators, and students from Prince George's County Public Schools.
President Obama Highlights Favorite Teacher in 'Teach' Campaign PSA
Today, the Department of Education released a public service announcement (PSA) by President Obama illustrating his support of the TEACH initiative. The President and U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan launched TEACH last September as a national initiative aimed at recruiting the next generation of amazing teachers.

I’m always excited to meet people who want to enter the teaching profession. After all, I’ve devoted my entire career to education, and it’s the best decision that I’ve ever made.
We do get a lot of questions from teachers and prospective teachers about the process of becoming a teacher – from certification to actually starting on the job search. I know it can be confusing, but I’m really thrilled to know that so many people are interested in teaching and are actively looking for resources!
