Ten States to Receive Funds to Support Education Jobs

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that ten states will receive millions of dollars to support education jobs.

"There is a huge sense of urgency to get these funds out the door," said Duncan. "These education dollars will help these states keep thousands of teachers in the classroom working with our students this school year."

Michigan to Receive Nearly $430 Million in Additional Recovery Funds

U. S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan today announced that an additional $429,781,767 is now available for Michigan under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. To date, Michigan has received $2,765,006,656 through the Recovery Act. The state recently reported that recovery dollars have been used to provide funding for more than 9,300 education jobs from Oct. 1 to Dec.

U.S. Education Secretary Takes "Listening and Learning" Tour to Detroit

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan traveled to Detroit today to meet with students, community leaders and elected officials to hear their ideas for education reform and how the federal government can help advance reforms in their community and throughout the state. The trip was the Secretary's second stop on his "Listening and Learning: A Conversation About Education Reform" tour.
