About Our Careers:

The Defense Dependents Education Act of 1978 established the Defense Dependents' Education System and required the Secretary of Defense to establish and operate a free public education system for eligible overseas dependents.

Today, our mission is to maintain a school system which provides educational opportunities through thirteen years of school (kindergarten through grade twelve), to assure that such educational opportunities are of high quality and are comparable in all respects to the better school systems of the United States, to maintain such schools in sufficient numbers and types, properly staffed and equipped to provide quality education for eligible dependent children of the Unites States military and civilian personnel of the Department of Defense stationed overseas.

DoDDS-Europe has a wide variety of jobs where you can work with others who are committed to providing a progressive, quality education for all students.

Benefits of Federal Employment

Each location where DoDDS-Europe civilian employees work presents unique attractions, climates, and social and cultural experiences. But many overseas assignments also offer special benefits that may include:

  • Paid relocation expenses, including temporary quarters allowance
  • Moving of household goods
  • Tax-free paid living quarters and post (cost-of-living) allowances
