Major General Boguslaw Samol

Deputy Chief of Staff Resources, International Security Assistance Force

Major General Boguslaw Samol, born in 1959, graduated from the High Military College of Armoured Troops in 1982.

After serving several operational appointments at company and battalion level, he completed his officers’ training at the Military Academy of Armoured Troops in the former Soviet Union in 1992. In 1998 he graduated from post-diploma studies in law and administration at Poznan University.

In 1992 he was assigned as the Deputy Commander of the 42nd Mechanized Regiment and in 1994 he was assigned as the Chief of Staff of the 11th Mechanized Brigade. In 1996 he commanded the 13th Mechanized Regiment.

He completed his Polish military education at the National Defence University in Warsaw in 1995 and 1997.

In 1998, he became the commander of the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade and in 2002 he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.

In 2004 he studied at the NATO Defence College in Rome, and in 2006 at the National Defense University in Washington D.C.

From 2004 until 2005 he worked in the General Directorate of Military Intelligence as Deputy Cief. From 2007 until 2009, he was designated as the Chief of Planning Defence Resources Directorate in the Polish General Staff, and was promoted to the rank of Major General in 2008.

In 2009 he was appointed as the Commander of the 16th Mechanized Division.

Major General Boguslaw Samol’s interests include military history and skiing.

He and his wife Aleksandra have two children, a daughter and a son.
