    The Richmond Fisher House is truly a "home away from home" for families of service members and veterans receiving care at the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Medical Center. The kitchen is the heart of the facility as family members gather to talk about their loved ones, share information on programs and grab a bite to eat in between trips to the hospital. Most days, residents of the Fisher House must either rely on their own skills in the kitchen or get meals from local restaurants. But on a recent Saturday, Advanced Culinary Course students and instructors from the Joint Center of Culinary Excellence, Quartermaster School volunteered to prepare a brunch designed to nourish their bodies and spirits.

    The 6th Annual "Warriors on the Water" Bass Tournament was held at Jordan Lake, N.C., April 29, 2011. The event, sponsored by local, regional and national businesses and individuals from across the United States gave more than 150 service members the opportunity to develop their angling skills under the watchful eye of an equal number of professional bass anglers and other dedicated fisherman. The "catch and release" protocol followed ensured the great majority of gamefish caught were returned to the lake, where they will continue to grow and propagate the species.

    The Fort Bragg, N.C. community came together during the the 6th Annual Warriors on the Water Icebreaker Gathering, April 27, 2011 at Fort Bragg, N.C. More than 400 sponsors, professional and amateur bass anglers, boaters and servicemember "co-anglers" from Fort Bragg, Pope Field, Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station and other locations, were in attendance at the opening ceremony for this year's event which culminates on Friday, April 29, with a fishing tournament at Jordan Lake, N.C. More than 150 donated boats are expected to be on the waters for a full day of bass fishing.
