  • Silent Warrior Challenge enhances 741st MI BN resiliency commitment

    In the wake of the Army Safety Stand-Down Day to combat the risk of suicide within the force, the 741st Military Intelligence Battalion expanded its commitment to the Army's Comprehensive Soldier and Family Fitness program by conducting its inaugural Silent Warrior Challenge on Oct. 1, 3 and 5.

    After World War I, the Army's cryptographic elements were transferred to the Signal Corps at Fort Monmouth. On October 5, 1942, the Cryptographic Division transferred from Fort Monmouth to Vint Hill Farms Station, Virginia and became known as the Signal Corps Cryptographic School.

    Fort Huachuca, AZ. - Unmanned aircraft systems, or UASs, are often called "eyes in the sky." That is because UASs can film videos of potentially hostile locations and transmit the imagery over many miles while not putting Soldiers in harm's way. The aircraft systems are controlled remotely by a pilot on the ground. Specially trained 15E unmanned aircraft systems repairers provide maintenance support for the Shadow 200, Hunter and Gray Eagle, enabling these UASs to execute their missions.

James Kirscht, a signals intelligence analyst/reporter, was the Distinguished Honor Graduate and Spc. Scott Bilich, a technical leader/signals intelligence analyst, was the Honor Graduate for WLC Class 09-12, a 26-day course that concluded in June.

    In the summer of 2002, I was in the U.S. Navy and stationed on the South Pacific island of Guam. Guam is a tropical island where the temperature of the crystal-clear water is in the mid to upper 80s year-round. Abundant ocean wildlife, combined with numerous shipwrecks and other leftovers from World War II, create a perfect ocean paradise. As an avid outdoor enthusiast, I spent a lot of my free time enjoying the ocean's beauty, above and beneath the endless emerald-blue waves. Little did I know I would soon face death more closely than I could have ever imagined.
