Gunsan Air Show 2011
 
All are invited to the Gunsan Saemangeum Airshow 2011 Oct. 8 and 9, with doors opening Oct. 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Throughout the two-day event, a wide variety of Korean and American high-performance aerial demonstrations, unique ground performances and military equipment static displays will entertain the public.

Visitors can also enjoy a children's play area and a wide variety of food and souvenir booths.

Location: Kunsan Air Base and Gunsan City along the Saemangeum Seawall.

Transportation: Buses for Kunsan AB personnel will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days. Buses will pickup passengers at the parking lot across the street from the community bank and post office. Shuttles will arrive at pick-up and drop-off locations every 20 minutes. The drop-off location will be at the hammer head section of the flightline.

General Security Information
Korean citizens age 17 and older are required to show their Korean driver's license or their Korean identification card for entry.

All school-age children must carry student IDs if available. Younger children and those without IDs must be accompanied by an adult with an ID or driver's license.

Visitors who are not Korean citizens must bring their passport for entry to the air show. Visitors from the following countries are prohibited: Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), Russian Federation, People's Republic of China, and Iran.

No protests will be allowed. Protests are illegal and protesters will be apprehended by police and charged with trespassing.

Strollers for young children will be permitted. All bags and personnel entering the installation are subject to search at any time while on Kunsan Air Base.

Any bags, purses or other items that are found unattended on base will be confiscated for investigation by security forces.

F-16F-16 "Fighting Falcon"
The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft. It is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack. 

 
F-15 EagleF-15 "Eagle"
The F-15 Eagle is an all-weather, extremely maneuverable, tactical fighter designed to permit the Air Force to gain and maintain air supremacy over the battlefield.
 

C-130 HerculesC-130 "Hercules"
The C-130 Hercules primarily performs the tactical portion of the airlift mission. The aircraft is capable of operating from rough, dirt strips and is the prime transport for air dropping troops and equipment into hostile areas.

 
KC-135KC-135 "Stratotanker"
The KC-135 Stratotanker provides the core aerial refueling capability for the United States Air Force and has excelled in this role for more than 50 years. It also provides aerial refueling support to Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps and allied nation aircraft.


E-3 "Sentry"E-3 "Sentry" (AWACS)
The E-3 Sentry is an airborne warning and control system, or AWACS, aircraft with an integrated command and control battle management, or C2BM, surveillance, target detection, and tracking platform.


AH-64AH-64 "Apache Longbow"
Conducts rear, close, and shaping missions including deep precision strike. Conducts distributed operations, precision strikes against relocatable targets, and provides armed reconnaissance when required in day, night, obscured battlefield and adverse weather conditions.


Black HawkUH-60 "Black Hawk"
Provide air assault, general support, aeromedical evacuation, command and control and special operations support to combat and stability and support operations.



CH-47 ChinookCH-47 "Chinook"
Transport ground forces, supplies, ammunition and other battle-critical cargo in support of worldwide combat and contingency operations.



PATRIOT"PATRIOT"
Provide defense of critical assets and maneuver forces belonging to the corps and to echelons above corps against aircraft, cruise missiles, and tactical ballistic missiles.


HMMWVHMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle)
Provide a common light tactical vehicle capability. Replaced the quarter-ton jeep, M718A1 ambulance, half-ton Mule, 1.25-ton Gamma Goat, and M792 ambulance.


F/A-18F/A-18 "Hornet"
All-weather fighter and attack aircraft. The single-seat F/A-18 Hornet is the nation's first strike-fighter. It was designed for traditional strike applications such as interdiction and close air support without compromising its fighter capabilities.

KT-1 "Ungbi"
A Korean basic training aircraft for pilots. It was jointly developed by KAI and the ADD in a project that began in 1988. The plane was the first in its class to be designed entirely by a computer, and is South Korea's first indigenous aircraft developed using exclusive domestic technologies 


T-50 "Golden Eagle"
The T-50 delivers a total advanced training system that will bridge the gap between basic flight training and high-performance fighters. It is the trainer aircraft that will introduce a new generation of pilots to the power of modern, advanced fighters. 


F-4 "Phantom"
The F-4 Phantom II is a twin engine, all weather, tactical fighter-bomber. It originally performed three tactical air roles: air superiority, interdiction and close-air support. The F-4 continues to serve in retirement as the QF-4 Aerial Target, an unmanned, high performance aerial target used for live air-to-air and surface-to-air missile tests


F-5 "Freedom Fighter"
The F-5 is a supersonic fighter combining low cost, ease of maintenance and great versatility. More than 2,000 F-5 aircraft have been procured by the USAF for use by allied nations


The F-15K Slam Eagle is the newest variant of the combat-proven F-15E. Equipped with the latest technological upgrades, it is more lethal, survivable, and maintainable than its predecessor. The Slam Eagle is primarily operated by the Republic of Korea Air Force.
