Col. Michael P. Burns is commander of the 934th Mission Support Group, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Air Reserve Station, Minn. As the group commander, he provides leadership and management oversight to ten subordinate base level squadrons, flights, staff agencies and other organizations in support of the 934th Airlift Wing's mission to provide airlift forces for Air Mobility Command's global flying mission.

Colonel Burns was born in St. Paul, Minn., and graduated from Hill-Murray High School in Maplewood, Minn. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 1991. He received his commission as a second lieutenant through the university's Air Force ROTC program the same year and entered Active Duty in September 1991.

In 2002, Colonel Burns became an Air Reserve Technician -- holding dual status as a civil service employee and an Air Force Reservist.
