Undergraduate Pilot/Navigator Training
Serving as a military pilot or navigator is an exacting profession that requires a high level of training. But if you pursue your dream of becoming a "rated" officer (that is, an officer qualified for flight duty) you will not be disappointed. You will receive the world's best aviation training and quickly be at the controls of complex aircraft, flying demanding and rewarding missions in Alaska and around the world.
You will also be an officer. You will be expected to lead, and will be given training and opportunities to grow as a leader. You, and others like you, will provide the leadership that takes the Alaska Air National Guard into the future.
Our rated officers are selected at an annual selection board which convenes in Anchorage, AK. The board is a combined board that selects candidates for both the 176th Wing, based at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, and the 168th Air Refueling Wing, based at Eielson Air Force Base.
