Sergeant Major Timothy J Perkins has distinguished himself by assisting the Iowa National Guard to develop a human relations culture that leverages diversity to maximize readiness, provides trained war fighters, provides a joint domestic response, and adapts and transforms his organization for future success. SGM Perkins served as NGB's NOCIC for the 2011 Society of American Indian Government Employees National Training Program, working as a liaison with youth groups. In addition to his full time duties, SGM Perkins conducts training at high schools where students learn about the history of Native Americans from a Native American perspective. He facilitates discussion groups about sports teams and their use of Native American related words and artifacts as mascots. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Major Timothy J. Perkins reflect great credit upon himself, the National Guard Bureau and the Department of Defense.
