Work at SlideShare

Love SlideShare? Want to join the team? We are hiring in San Francisco & New Delhi!

SlideShare is a fun place to work at. Its a geek-friendly place. There are nerf gun battles in the office. We work hard and also enjoy ourselves. The fast pace of development means you can show your friends and family what you built last week. And best of all, there is ice cream everyday. (ok, maybe that's an exaggeration!). Other benefits include -

  • Working with cutting edge technology
  • Being part of a small team that is going to take over the world (one presentation at a time!)
  • Competitive Salary & Stock Options
  • Fun workplace

We are currently focused on hiring for our San Francisco office. But feel free to apply for our New Delhi office as well.

  • Operations Engineer
You should speak native Linux and have experience with a big cluster of machines. Must like playing with infrastructure tools like Memcache, MogileFS, and Monit (and that's just the "M"s ;->)! Must be able to come up with creative solutions to problems, be passionate about automation of system tasks and enjoy putting technologies in place to do tasks like real-time system monitoring and load balancing. You will be responsible for helping scale SlideShare to hundreds of servers, using automation, virtualization, and cloud computing technologies like Amazon EC2 and S3.

  • Web Application Developer
SlideShare is looking for first-rate engineering talent. Here's the deal: we don't care what school you went to, or what grades you got there. We care about what you have DONE - maybe independent or freelance projects that are visible on the web? Or even better, open-source contributions? We're looking for web-savvy hackers who know JavaScript and Flash and at least one server-side scripting language, and can use them to full effect in creating amazing web applications. We use Ruby as a programming language, but experience with Ruby is not a prerequisite; PHP, Python or even Java is fine.

  • Backend Software Engineer
If you LOVE writing code and are comfortable hacking on Linux systems, doing deep algorithmic work (search, recommendation engines, etc), SQL tuning and optimization, and modifying open-source code to your own twisted purposes, then you might be a good fit for a back-end position. Same policy applies to back-enders as to front-enders: the ideal candidate will be able to show us what they are capable of, ideally as a contribution to an open-source project or some independent work.

  • Content & Community Manager
You will be SlideShare's public face on our community forums, engage with users from across the world to elicit feedback that dovetails into product design decisions. This position has a mix of responsibilities - interacting with our users through different mediums, curate content on the site (remove spam, categorize content into verticals) and copy edit site text. Perks include getting to play a lead role in deciding what goes on our homepage ;->), reading feedback emails in Swahili, Hebrew & Icelandic !!! . Desired background - ideally someone who enjoys interacting with people (marketing or communication background might be helpful), must have excellent written & oral language skills (being a blogger is a plus); prior background in social media, mass communication, web design may help.
