Im here at Ft. leonardwood now and well as you can see im using my laptop. Im also in my first week here. So id say its a rather easy going place to be all together. Now depending on your MOS your privileges may change. Im a 88M comming from Ft. Knox and we seem to be a little more squared away than some of the others but thats just my observation anyway lol.....
Pretty much Lost in the woods is sweet!
6 Weeks left and I get to see my babies I cannot wait!

This sticky is for all things related to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Discuss when you're leaving or what you experienced, etc.
Absolutely no discussion of other Forts. Use the other stickies. Do not bash Fort Leonard Wood or anyone that is going or graduating. No one cares which is harder or why it's harder, just keep it to the above curriculum. Hold yourself in a professional manner while in here.

One of the best forts!!!
Leaving Wednesday April 8th...anyone got any pointers?
Yeah, don't go to sick call. My bro in-law works in there as a PA (civilian contractor) and he says stay out at all costs.Originally Posted by jrgillespie630

I shipped on 10/08 and it was in the 60's or so. Within a matter of 2 weeks it was into the 40's. At least you will be there in time to somewhat get your body used to it. My advice, don't start wearing your poly pros just yet. You need to climatize your body so when it gets to being in the teens and 20's everyday you aren't freezing. My phase 3 FTX had a high of 17 and a low of -5 during the day. Just sayinOriginally Posted by clail9033

Thanks for all the info! My recruiter told me it was gonna be cold but he said nothing compared to what you all have told me. I am from western North Carolina so I am used to snow and cold winters but is usually only drops to 30 or so here so I guess I am in for a treat lol.
I am from Louisiana. I know about treats lol.Originally Posted by clail9033

It will get cold but there won't be a lot of snow. Ive lived in Missouri my entire life and in recent years we've only gotten 2 or 3 snows each year and those are usually only a couple inches. Temperatures can reach extremes both ways though. I've seen as low as -5 in the winter and as high as 105 in the summer. Spring and fall are usually really nice though.
Hey guys. A Marine coming to take your board over. lmao. So, I was heading to Fort Leonard Wood for my sister's graduation on my birthday in a week, but I then realized that I had finals the same day, so I'll stay here in Miami. My family is still going though.
If you guys could shed some light on what there is to do around there, I'd appreciate it. What is there to do for the whole family at the Fort and in the area, and in the bigger cities I guess if it's within the mile limits of where the new grads can go. Thanks a bunch.
Oohrah! lmao.
There are a few places to eat and that is about it. Is she graduating AIT or BCT?
If she decides to stay on post there are some thing to see driving around. On my family day we went to some of the picture spots around post. There is a small park that has memorial gardens for MP's, Engiqueers...ahem Engineers, and Chemical. There is also an old one room school house and a few other things. Google "Ft. Leonardwood driving tour" and it should bring it up.
