    Default Non-Prior Service Enlistment Bonus (NPSEB)

    The following are the requirements for the Non-Prior Service Enlistment Bonus (NPSEB) as of April 2012. Please refer to AR 135-7 and SRIP PM 12-01 for further reference and processing procedures.

    1. Minimum 6x2 or 8x0 enlistment contract
    2. Minimum AFQT (ASVAB) score of 50
    3. Meet educational requirement; specifically Tier 1 level. See regulation for exceptions and more details.
    4. Split-Training option applicants are eligible.
    5. Officer Candidate School (OCS) O9S and Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) O9R applicants are not eligible for the NPSEB or the Montgomery GI Bill Kicker.
    6. GED Plus, Active First, Patriot Academy, and Recruit Force Pool (RFP) are also not eligible for the NPSEB or the Montgomery GI Bill-SR Kicker.
    7. Glossary Non-Prior Service applicants are not eligible.
    8. This incentive is only offered if the State, Territory, or District of Columbia has the funds available within the fiscal year the bonus is to be paid. This includes anniversary payments. Refer to a recruiter for more details.
    9. Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) and Montgomery GI Bill Kicker ARE available concurrently with this incentive providing the applicant meets the requirements.
    10. The applicant must enlist in an available vacancy within the unit and MOS at E4 or below. This also includes Civilian Acquired Skills Program (CASP) applicants. Filling excess, over-strength, and manually-loaded vacancies is not authorized; no waivers accepted. Refer to the regulation for more details on Tier levels and scoring.
    11. The NPSEB Addendum must be properly completed, within the appropriate time frame, and by the authorized personnel. Refer to the regulation for more details.

    Payment Installments*:
    1. Installment 1: A 50 percent payment will be processed upon successful
    completion of Advanced Individual Training.
    2. Installment 2: A 25 percent payment will be processed on the 3-year anniversary
    of the enlistment date after verification.
    3. Installment 3: A 25 percent payment will be processed on the 5-year
    anniversary of the enlistment date after verification of qualification.

    *An applicant should ALWAYS refer to their local recruiter for the most up-to-date information on payment installments and amounts. These can and do vary between states and often change overnight.
