  • Richard Fontaine is the President of the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). He served as a Senior Advisor and Senior Fellow at CNAS from 2009-2012.  He previously served as foreign policy advisor to Senator John McCain for more than five years.  He has also worked at the State Department, the National Security Council and on the staff of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Expert Highlight

  • Shawn Brimley

    Shawn Brimley is a Senior Fellow at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS). Mr. Brimley rejoins CNAS after serving in the Obama Administration since February 2009 most recently as Director for Strategic Planning on the National Security Council staff at the White House. He also served as Special Advisor to the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy at the Pentagon from 2009-2011, where he focused on the 2010 Quadrennial Defense Review, overseas basing and posture, and long-range strategy development.
