I went to get a prescription filled for my Transitional Care For Service-Related Conditions (TCSRS) medical condition. The pharmacy told me I had to pay up front and file a claim. I thought I wouldn't have any co-pays or cost shares for my medications during my Transitional Care For Service-Related Conditions (TCSRC) benefit period?
Because you no longer show as an active duty member in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System, you may have to pay up front for your medications. But if you send a copy of your Transitional Care For Service-Related Conditions approval letter with your claim form (DD Form 2642) and pharmacy print out, you’ll be fully reimbursed your prescription costs.

Notes:
  • The Transitional Care For Service-Related Conditions benefit only covers medications related to the qualifying condition.
  • If you're near a military treatment facility, you may want to get your prescriptions filled there.
