    On behalf of Miami-Dade Department of Emergency Management; Miami-Dade County Citizen Corps Council; and the generosity of the University of Miami and the American Red Cross South Florida Region, we are pleased to invite you to join us at the South Florida Citizen Corps Symposium for three days of community preparedness workshops, training, and a full-scale exercise.     2009-2010 Progress Report

    The Progress Report details the events DEM has coordinated in response to tropical storms, hurricanes and other possible hazards, and the progress of on-going initiatives undertaken "to support our community's disaster preparedness, response, recover and mitigation needs through the coordination of information and resources."

    2011 Severe Weather Awareness Week Poster and video contests

    The Florida Division of Emergency Management and the American Red Cross today announced that they will again team up to sponsor Florida Severe Weather Awareness Week from Jan. 31 - Feb. 4, 2011. The annual public awareness campaign includes a poster and video public service announcement contest.

    September is National Preparedness Month (NPM)

    NPM is designed to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, and communities.Emergency Management is partnering in a regional disaster preparedness campaign to promote a regional disaster preparedness message.

    Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan

    Miami-Dade County is vulnerable to a variety of hazards that threaten its communities, businesses and the environment. The Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) establishes the framework to ensure that Miami-Dade County and its municipalities are prepared to deal with these hazards.
