Jobs and Economic Development
Creating jobs and boosting the economy continue to be the driving force behind Paul’s actions in Congress. While the number of jobs created continues to improve each month, Congress must do more to enact policies that accelerate the pace of hiring. During the Great Recession in 2008, more than 8.2 million people lost their jobs, almost 850,000 in the month of November 2008 alone. Since then, private sector job growth has continued at a slow but steady pace. In the Capital Region, the unemployment level remains below the national average, which is stubbornly high.
