WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Austria (R – Beavercreek) today met with local lawn and turf company representatives, who were in town to volunteer their time and services to the “Renewal and Remembrance Project” where volunteers provide lawn upkeep and improvements at Arlington National Cemetery.  

Jeffrey Bisker and Mike McCown of the Ashville company, Your Lawn, Inc. took part in the yearly event held by the Plant Professional Landcare Network. The group worked on landscaping to help preserve and improve the cemetery. 

“It is always great to meet with small business owners from the district, especially when they are giving of their own time to volunteer to improve our national landmark, Arlington National Cemetery,” Austria said.  “As small businesses are experiencing challenging times during this economic crisis, to come to Washington and help provide a service for those families and veterans who have paid the ultimate sacrifice speaks highly of our community.”

The “Renewal and Remembrance Project” was created by an Ohio lawn company more than 10 years ago to provide a volunteer service to veterans.  Bisker has taken part in the project for the past four years. In addition to discussing his volunteer work at Arlington Cemetery with the Congressman, Bisker also discussed issues before Congress that impact the lawn and turf industry.
