WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Austria (R – Beavercreek) today voted in support of H.R. 3082, the approximately $128.6 billion appropriations bill to fund military construction and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The bill will support several projects at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

“I was pleased to vote for this bill which will make it possible for important construction projects to be funded at Wright Patterson Air Force Base,” Austria said. “This bill will provide funding for our Veterans Affairs Department, and I wholeheartedly support our veterans who have served our nation so bravely.”

The Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill included funding for Wright Patterson Air Force Base including two requests made by the administration. The requested projects provide $21 million in funding for the conversion of the advanced power research lab and $27 million for the first phase of the Info Tech Complex.

“I was pleased that both of these important projects and other funding was included to help Wright Patterson Air Force Base,” Austria commented. “This bill will help fund military construction projects and assist veterans across our country.”

Under the legislation, the VA will receive an 11 percent funding increase, and $22.2 billion in funding to go toward military construction, with $2 billion going toward family housing and $8 billion to toward BRAC.  

This legislation will now go to the Senate for further consideration.
