GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. PURPOSE. THIS MESSAGE ANNOUNCES THE 2012 ANNUAL U.S. MARINE CORPS COMBAT CORRESPONDENTS ASSOCIATION AWARDS DINNER.
2. LOCATION. THE AWARDS DINNER WILL BE HELD ON 13 SEPTEMBER 2012 AT THE MISSION VALLEY CROWN PLAZA, 2270 HOTEL CIRCLE NORTH, SAN DIEGO CA 92108.
3. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS. THE MAIN RECEPTION BEGINS AT 1800, IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY THE AWARDS DINNER 1900-2100.
4. COST. TICKETS FOR THE BANQUET ARE 48 DOLLARS.  THIS FEE IS NOT REIMBURSABLE ON TRAVEL CLAIMS - FOR ATTENDEES ON OFFICIAL ORDERS, THE COST OF MEALS IS COVERED THROUGH PER DIEM. AS A COST SAVINGS MEASURE, THE PUBLIC AFFAIRS LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE FOR 2012 HAS BEEN CANCELED; HOWEVER, THE USMCCCA CONFERENCE WILL STILL BE HELD IN SAN DIEGO FROM SEPTEMBER 10-13. THE USMC COMBAT CORRESPONDENTS ASSOCIATION AND MARINE CORPS PUBLIC AFFAIRS MERIT AWARDS WILL BE PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE OF THE DINNER ON SEPTEMBER 13. THE MERIT AWARDS PROGRAM, OPERATING UNDER THE AEGIS OF THE OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF DEFENSE FOR PUBLIC AFFAIRS, RECOGNIZES MARINES AND OTHERS WHOSE PRINT AND BROADCAST JOURNALISM PRODUCTS PROMOTE THE MARINE CORPS AND DEMONSTRATE OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN FURTHERING OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE COMMAND INFORMATION PROGRAM.
