  3. Looking forward to another great day in Eastern Washington - touring the new Pepsi distribution center in Spokane Valley and meeting with the students and teachers who are part of the CyberPatriot program. Spokane accounted for an amazing 7 of the 26 teams in the CyberPatriot finals.

  6. This weekend, my staff attended the first-ever Veterans Will Clinic at Gonzaga University School of Law. The Clinic was put together by the Law School and Army OneSource and provided free wills for over 90 of our veterans. Also helping was the American Red Cross, Spokane Vet Center, the Young Lawyers of the Spokane County Bar Association, and the Veterans Cemetery. Keep an eye out for the Clinic again next year!

  8. On Saturday, October 13, 2012, a good friend of mine was laid to rest. Charlotte Karling was a very special person in this community. She touched so very many lives here in Eastern Washington. Charlotte you will be missed.

  9. I am proud to accept the Washington Farm Bureau's annual "Friend of Farm Bureau Award." As someone who grew up on a family farm, and with agriculture being Eastern Washington's number one industry, I will continue to fight hard every day for our farmers and ranchers and for our entire community.
  10. I'm excited to announce that the Spokane VA Medical Center was named one of the top 19 VA medical facilities in the country by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This recognition was based on outstanding evidence-based care and positive patient outcomes. I'm so proud of the phenomenal work the Spokane VA is doing to take care of our veterans! Thank you for all that you do!

After touring Caterpillar and Wear-Tek yesterday, I'm looking forward to another busy day in Eastern Washington - hosting a roundtable with employee-owned businesses, touring the Downtown Spokane Renal Center, receiving the Retire Safe Award for my work on behalf of seniors, and meeting with local veterans, among other things. Should be a fun day!

  15. So proud to join Senator Cantwell and others for the official ribbon cutting for a major phase of the North South Freeway! The completion of this project is a result of a $35 million grant from the US Department of Transportation. I'm so proud that Spokane is the home of innovation, advancement and job creation!
