Democratic Congressman Leaves Majority for GOP

Washington D.C.- Congressman Dan Lungren (R-CA) made the following statement regarding Democratic Congressman and retired oncologist Parker Griffith's decision to join the Republican Party:

"Today, I am pleased to welcome Parker Griffith to the Republican Party. This is a clear indication that the American people are fed up with the direction the Democrat majority is leading the country with regard to health care reform.

"Rep. Griffith can see the writing on the wall and place the needs of his constituents above an agenda that is increasing spending, raising taxes and killing jobs.

"The Republican Minority now has 14 medical professionals in its ranks and together we are proposing a common sense health care reform that will increase coverage to millions of American without sacrificing quality of care and forcing small business to shed jobs.

"Since August, the Democrat majority has not listened to what the American people want on a variety of issues. Rep. Griffith's decision today is a further indication of  broad discontent with the Pelosi agenda."
