Employer Programs

Employer Outreach is a key function of ESGR’s mission. Each year national and local level events are hosted across America by all 54 ESGR State Committees, including briefings with the boss, Bosslifts, Statement of Support (SoS) signings, trade shows, educational events, job fairs, and awards presentations. Through these events, staff and volunteers personally influenced more than 153,000 employers in fiscal year 2011 alone.

BossLifts

Employers are transported, via military aircraft or watercraft, to military facilities where they observe Guard and Reserve members on duty.

Statement of Support Program

This is the cornerstone of ESGR’s effort to gain and maintain employer support for the Guard and Reserve. The intent of the program is to increase employer support by encouraging employers to act as advocates for employee participation in the military. Supportive employers are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units. For more information, click here.

Breakfast and/or Briefings with the Boss

Brings together employers, unit commanders, ESGR volunteers and community leaders to discuss issues related to service in the Guard and Reserve.

Trade shows and educational events

ESGR representatives are available and ready to attend trade shows to spread the word on ESGR outreach initiatives. Similarly, local ESGR representatives can be made available to attend in-house meetings to brief on ESGR and USERRA to offices interested in better supporting their Guard and Reserve Service member employees.

Job Fairs

ESGR recognizes the unique skills a Guard or Reserve Service member can bring to a civilian employer (link to Top 10 Fact Sheet). For this reason, ESGR representatives host and attend job fairs in an effort to link employers with citizen warriors. To further this initiative, ESGR representatives work closely with Hero 2 Hired (H2H.jobs), a program powered by the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program (YRRP). The H2H.jobs website enables free postings for employers, and is geared toward specifically link employers with Guard and Reserve members who possess the unique skills beneficial to any employer.

Award Presentations

Local ESGR representatives can coordinate an award presentation ceremony upon request and hold a yearly award ceremony where employers are recognized for their support of Guard and Reserve service.
