Want List Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a Want List?
A Want List takes the parameters of a search including any uploaded NIINs and stores them. The search is then run and the results are emailed to the end user in either Text, PDF, or Microsoft Excel formats either daily or weekly.
2. How do I set up a Want List?
After a search has been submitted you'll see a link at the top of the page that says "Schedule this search which will notify you when property enters the Disposition Services/DRMO inventory." Click the link and enter your email address. Note: This is the email address that will receive the results. After that you'll be prompted for your phone number and other criteria regarding your Want List. Once everything is filled out submit your Want List.
3. How often will results be emailed to me?
If you chose to have your Want List emailed to you daily you'll receive it daily. If you chose to have your Want List emailed to you weekly you'll receive it Sunday.
4. What does a NIIN file look like?
A NIIN file is an ASCII text file with a .txt file extension that contains a listing of NIINs or NSNs with an enter at the end of each line. A NIIN file can also be a Microsoft Excel document where the NIIN or NSN starts with cell A1. Other data formats are NOT acceptable and will not be processed. .txt files created with Word are acceptable. Please click here for an example of what a NIIN file looks like.
5. How many NIINs can I associate with a Want List?
You can associate up to 70,000 unique NIINs with a Want List. If the file that's being sent is more than 70,000 unique NIINs, the Want List will only accept the first 70,000 unique NIINs. For example, a file of 120,000 NIINs were uploaded and submitted as a Want List. Only the first 70,000 unique NIINs were accepted and used, the remaining 50,000 NIINs were not accepted and not used.
6. What format will the results get emailed to me?
The results can be emailed in either text, PDF, or Microsoft Excel formats.
7. Can I change my Want List after I've activated it or while I'm getting results?
Yes, you can change your Want List after it's been activated or while you're getting results. Please go to the Want View application and after you've logged in you'll be prompted with your list of Want Lists. Select "Edit" next to the Want List to change it's settings or select "Edit Locations" to change the Zones and DRMOs.
8. My Want List has expired or is about to expire, how do I extend it?
Please go to the Want View application and after you've logged in select "Extend" to extend the expiration date. The expiration date gets extended depending how long you chose to receive your Want List. For example, a Want List set to expire in a week will be extended another week, a Want List set to expire in six months will get extended for another six months.
9. How many Want Lists I can have in the system?
Currently there isn't a limit to the number of Want Lists any one person can have in the system.
10. I've gone through all the steps and submitted my Want List, now what?
After a Want List has been submitted you should receive an email with a confirmation code at the bottom of the email. Please go to the Want View application and after entering your email address you'll see a list of your current Want Lists. Please select "Activate Want List" next to the Want List that you want to make active. After you've selected "Activate Want List" you'll be prompted for the confirmation code. Enter the confirmation code you've received in the email message and your Want List will be activated (please note the confirmation code is case sensitive).
11. How do I stop a Want List?
Please go to the Want View and log in to get your current Want Lists. Click the link next to the Want List that says "Delete". The system will stop emailing you the results of that particular Want Lists. Please note that when a Want List expires or has chosen to be expired it will be permanently removed along with any NIINs that were associated with the Want List.
12. My Want List disappeared, what happened to it?
When a Want List has expired it's permanently removed from the system along with all the NIINs associated with the Want List. Three days before a Want List expires a reminder email is sent warning of the expiration.
13. I went to to edit my Want List but I don't have a password, how do I get a password to access my Want Lists?
To edit your Want Lists you'll need to create a password. This password is used only for accessing your Want Lists and is not tied to any other system. To create a password for your Want List please click here. Passwords must conform to the following rules:

  • Fifteen or more characters.
  • At least two lowercase letters.
  • At least two capital letters.
  • At least two special characters (!#$%^&*).
  • At least two numbers.
  • 14. I lost the password to access my Want Lists, how do I reset it?
    Please click here and enter your email address. Your password will be reset to an eight character password which will be emailed to the address that was entered. After you've received your password and logged into the Want View application you'll be prompted to reset your password. Please note this password only conforms to the Want List and no other system. Your password must conform to the following rules:
  • Fifteen or more characters.
  • At least two lowercase letters.
  • At least two capital letters.
  • At least two special characters (!#$%^&*).
  • At least two numbers.
  • 15. How do I change my Want List password?
    To change your Want List password you first must be logged into the Want View application. After logging in, in the upper right hand corner is a link called "Change Want List Pasword". Please note changing this password only conforms to the Want List and no other system.
