Detroit - During the month of September 2012, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Detroit Metropolitan Airport intercepted a wanted fugitive for child pornography and apprehended two registered sex offenders as they attempted to depart the United States.

The first attempt took place on September 6, when CBP Officers conducting outbound enforcement operations received information regarding a male subject that was an out of compliance sex offender. The subject was intercepted by CBP officers trying to board a flight to Amman, Jordan. The subject was denied boarding, taken into custody, and turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service.

On September 7, CBP Officers were conducting outbound enforcement operations when they intercepted a wanted child pornography fugitive as he attempted to board a connecting flight to Incheon, Korea. CBP detained the subject who was ultimately arrested by the FBI.

The final event took place on September 10, when CBP Officers working an outbound flight to Frankfurt, Germany, intercepted another registered sex offender who was attempting to leave the country. The subject was denied boarding by CBP Officers, and turned over to the Michigan State Police.
