Graphics and the Navy's official Seal

While you are free to download digital images, the U.S. Navy's web team does not have graphics for downloading or electronic mail distribution. Many of the current paint programs do have military clip art and there are commercial companies which produce and sell such clip art.

The Navy's Official Seal

18 United States Code, Part 1, Chapter 47, Section 1017, prohibits the use the Department of the Navy seal, such as that you see on the welcome page of this web site, by anyone other than bona fide commands and activities of the Department of the Navy and the Department of Defense where appropriate.

Secretary of the Navy Instruction 5030.4A of 17 March 1986 restricts the use of the Department of the Navy seal, such as that you see on the welcome page of this web site, to official use only and to the exclusive use of the Department of the Navy and the Department of Defense. Commands can likely obtain a digital copy from the command in their chain of command which has a graphics department.

Note: An optional graphic is the Navy emblem (pictured below) which may be used only with permission. The Navy Office of Information may grant such permission provided the circumstances under which the emblem is reproduced or used do not reflect unfavorably on the U.S. Navy or its personnel, and the use of the emblem conforms to the dictates of good taste and propriety. Users of this emblem must display the following disclaimer wherever the emblem is used:

Official Navy Colors

The precise brown, red, blue, and gold of the Seal are the standard for the Navy Emblem. The Pantone® Matching System check-standard numbers are applicable to production of the emblem regardless of the method of reproduction or whether reproduction is to be on paper, cloth, glass, metal, plastic, ceramic, or any other base.
