Rear Admiral (Select) Donald L. Singleton


A native of Montgomery, Ala., Singleton enlisted in the Navy in 1981. After graduating from Air Traffic Control school, he was assigned as an instructor for tower and radar operations and, subsequently, assigned to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla.

He earned his bachelor's degree in Management from Troy University and was selected for Officer Candidate School in Newport, R.I. He was commissioned in September 1986 and attended the Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Ga. He graduated from the College of William & Mary in Virginia with a master's in Business Administration, and holds a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport, R.I. He is also a graduate of the Columbia University Senior Executive Program.

His afloat assignments include supply officer, USS George Washington (CVN 73); supply officer, USS Vicksburg (CG 69); aviation supply division officer, USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69); and assistant supply officer, USS Vreeland (FF 1068).

Singleton's shore assignments include supply officer, Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Fla.; budget officer, Naval Supply Systems Command, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; aviation logistics analyst for OPNAV Staff (N41), Washington D.C.; detailer, Supply Corps Officer Personnel, Washington D.C.; supply officer, Fighter Squadron 101, Oceana, Va.; chief of staff for the Director for Logistics (J4), The Joint Staff; commanding officer, NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk; and chief of staff, Naval Supply Systems (NAVSUP) Command.

His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various campaign and unit awards. He is a qualified surface warfare officer, and naval aviation supply officer. Singleton is a member of the Department of Navy Acquisition Professional Community.
