About the Office of the Master Chief of the Coast Guard Reserve Force
The office of the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Reserve Force (MCPO-CGRF) was established in June 1991. As the most senior reserve enlisted member of the Coast Guard, the MCPO-CGRF serves as trusted advisor and assistant. Master Chief Mark H. Allen, who has served more than 34 years in the Coast Guard Reserve, is the fifth person selected to serve as the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Reserve Force. The MCPO-CGRF sets a visible example of the core values of honor, respect and devotion to duty. Those selected to serve in this prestigious position possess the highest standards of professionalism and personal integrity. Generally, the assignment is four years, running concurrently with the tours of the Commandant and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard.
Activities and responsibilities of the MCPO-CGRF
assists in the development of policy for managing the Reserve enlisted workforce of the Coast Guard;
travels to various units throughout the Coast Guard, addressing personnel on quality of life and personnel issues;
presents Reserve enlisted issues by speaking to various civilian and military committees and forums;
represents the Coast Guard Reserve by accepting opportunities to speak at military, civic, and social functions;
maintains a strong relationship with service organizations and companies that support Reserve enlisted personnel issues;
works closely with the Department of Defense senior enlisted Reserve counterparts.
