Crime Prevention Programs
Operation Crimestoppers
This program allows people to anonymously report a crime. If you know of a crime that has been committed or see a crime in progress, or if you see a suspicious person, vehicle or situation that you believe indicates a crime is occurring, call the Crimestop Hotline at 719-333-4100. All calls received through the hotline are anonymous. If it is an emergency situation, dial 911.
Project ID
Project ID involves engraving high-values such as stereos, TVs, notebook computers and bicycles with your name and a personal identifier such as the last four digits of your Social Security number to help prevent theft and identify items if they are stolen.To check out an engraver, contact the Police Services Office at 719-333-8427.
Ride Along
This program allows you to ride witha Security Forces patrolman for a day.Children must have parental consent to participate in this program and must be at least 10 years old. If you'd like to participate, contact the Security Forces Operations Superintendent at 719-333-8430.
Drug Demand Reduction
This program exists to reduce the amount of illegal controlled substances that exist on the Air Force Academy. The Drug Demand Reduction Program is headed by the 10th Medical Group, and the 10th Security Forces Squadron's K-9 unit is heavily involved. For more information, contact the DDRP at 719-333-2827.
K-9 Demonstrations
The Military Working Dog section routinely conducts public demonstrations of their K-9s' abilities. To inquire about or schedule a K-9 demo, contact the kennels at 719-333-8427.
McGruff Program
McGruff the Crime Dog appears at many Air Force Academy events to promote crime prevention. If you would like to schedule a McGruff appearance for your school, youth group or other activity, contact the Crime Prevention office at 719-333-8427.
