History of the Congressional Art Competition

The Congressional Art Competition was started in 1982 to provide an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, over 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage artistic talent across the nation, as well as in the 9th Congressional District of California.

The Competition is open to all high school students in the Ninth District. The artwork of the over-all winner of our district competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol along with the artwork from other winners nation-wide.

For the forms required to submit your artwork and more information about this program, please visit the homepage for the Congressional Art Competition.
